Prospective Students

Go to the DLC Class Schedule for a list of courses and technologies and select the course you would like to enroll in.

Verify that you have the technology required and skills needed and for the course you are interested in. Go to the Technology page for TV broadcast information.

Computer courses require an Internet connection, high speed (cable or DSL) for some courses, and an individual email address and basic computer skills

Televised courses are available to Comcast cable television subscribers in the areas listed on our Technology web page. For students outside of these areas, or for students who are not Comcast cable subscribers, many courses are available for rental from RMI Media. You may contact the Distance Learning Center for more specific information.

Some courses require students to come to campus for meetings. Look for the "distance" icon on the DLC Class Schedule, if you are interested in classes that do not require you to come to campus or for courses that offer alternatives to on-campus proctored exams for students who do not live close to campus.

To Apply and Register

Once you have found a course that meets your needs...
  • Apply to De Anza College using the online application.
  • Register for your course(s) during the registration period.
Select "Apply and Register" from the menu bar on the De Anza College home p
Refer to the Registered Students information to continue with your class.

Learn about the required orientation for your course(s) See the DLC Class Schedule.

Obtain a copy of your syllabus and read it in its entirety. See Online Syllabi.
Available approximately one week prior to the start of the quarter.

Fulllfill the orientation requirement for your course. See DLC Class Schedule and Online Orientations.
On-campus orientations are scheduled during the first week of classes.Online orientations are available approximately one week prior to the start of the quarter.

Purchase required books and materials. You may purchase books online from the De Anza Bookstore.

Begin your course as outlined in your syllabus. See Online Syllabi.

The Open Media Lab is available to students for videotape check out and computer use. To use the Lab you will need a student ID (DASB card), available in the Hinson Center. If you plan to check out videotapes for your distance Learning class, you will also need to stop by the Distance Learning Center, LCW 102, to obtain a Distance Learning Center student ID Card.
